Monday 22nd December - walks **** – Around Felixstowe – mainly cloudy with light winds.

Mag got up early as couldn’t didn’t sleep well and went for her prom walk in the dark, she didn’t see a fox today like yesterday! When she got back I looked out the window and saw quite a bit of dark cloud but decided to have a drive round to check the sunrise and take some weather pics which might be a waste of time until after Christmas as the local programmes have reduced programmes! I was in the van around 7.30 and my first stop was Brackenbury where there was a bit of colour in the sky between the tree above the row of beach huts, then onto The Dip for a couple of shoots before continuing down to Felixstowe Ferry parking near the chapel. I walked down to the Deben near the Martello Tower, the tide was fairy low so I stood on the beach and got some hazy sunrise pics, before continuing to the boatyard for more pics and home to sort them out.
Then it was a late breakfast and exercises while Mag finished the Christmas wrapping, I then had a plan for todays walk with no picnic required! We left home fairly late at 2.15 walking down to the prom by the pier with Mag not knowing what was going on! We turned right and headed towards The Manor end, despite it being busy with loads of families on holiday and getting in the Christmas spirit! The hazy sun was low in the sky in front of us and a lovely misty haze was blowing in from the sea, great great seeing the many dogs having fun on the beach, watching a couple of ladies braving the cold sea for a dip, the wind was light and the sea pretty flat but there was some good waves rolling in! We then turned off the prom and walked towards the kids play area and straight into Sea You Café, we have never been here before and it was really busy but we were lucky enough to get a window table and order a huge sausage roll and a cappuccino, that’s the third time this month we have had a coffee out, our poor old flask must be felling left out! We were in the café the best part of a lovely relaxing hour before continuing our walk to the end of the prom at Squiz Lane before turning for home. On reaching the pier the sun briefly turned the sky red so I got a few pics before slogging up the hill and home! We have a spell of moderate to fresh easterlies but it might be too cold for me to go windsurfing, sadly the Felixstowe Christmas Day dip in the sea but be in trouble with 30 mph winds and 5 degrees, will have to wait and see if it is cancelled?
